The Basic Open Cabler Registration Skill Set is for new or existing workers in the telecommunications industry who wish to be employed as open registered cablers (Telecommunication Technician) in accordance with ACMA requirements.

The Basic Scaffolding course provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding in various working environments. The basic level of erecting, altering and dismantling scaffolding are the specific requirements of this course, consisting of scaffolding work connected with the operation or use of cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load of 500kg, modular or pre-fabricated scaffolds, ropes, and gin wheels, safety nets and static lines, and bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

The course requires students to have the ability to plan a job, select and inspect equipment, set up a task and to erect and dismantle scaffold and scaffold equipment. The following aspects are taught through written and practical teachings:

Comply with OHS licensing, legislation and local government regulations
Hazards and risks associated with all aspects of basic scaffolding
Knowledge of the various soil types and ground conditions necessary for setting up plant and equipment.
Work method statements, job safety analyses and other appropriate documentation regarding the site.
 Completion of handover certificates
Identifying appropriate communication methods within the workplace

The successful student will have the knowledge and ability to conduct the following;

Conduct before and after operational checks of basic scaffolding and tagging any scaffolding equipment that has been damaged
Set up fall arrest systems in order to work safely at heights
Application of risk assessments and hazard control strategies
Ability to safely use bracket scaffolds, gin wheels, cantilever hoists, safety net, and static lines
Knowledge of mathematical procedures required to measure and estimate loads
 Use effective communication with supervisors, managers and other scaffolders within the workplace
Interpret the manufacturer’s specifications in order to safely erect and dismantle scaffolding

This non-accredited training is approved by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland for delivery by ATTC for WHS Representatives through the 5 day training program.

This course will teach you:

Issue provisional improvement notices (PIN)

Consultation with all stakeholders in the workplace

Assist with management of hazards and risks in the workplace

On successful completion of the course participants will receive a Statement of Attendance.

This course is aimed at providing the necessary skills and knowledge to operate a telescopic materials handler (telehandler) safely and efficiently. The course is a mixture of in class theory, practical demonstration and assessment covering all aspect of operation including legislation; hazards and risk control; planning; pre-use inspections; load charts; load characteristics; attachments; safe operation; transport; reporting procedures; shut down and post operation checks.

This course or unit of competency often referred to in industries as a C6 crane ticket, includes the theoretical and practical components to meet the skills and knowledge required to be able to safely operate a slewing mobile crane with a Maximum Rated Capacity (MRC) up to 60 tonnes for the high-risk work licence class C6.

Participants will gain the following skills and knowledge:

• Plan for the safe and effective operation of a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonne capacity)
• Identify and report damage or defects
• Conduct routine pre and post operational crane checks
• Correctly set up the crane
• Conduct test lifts and transfer loads
• Use controls, outriggers and safety equipment
• Move loads using best mobile practice
• Communicate effectively with dogman / rigger
• Load calculations and movement

This course will give you the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake the duties of a dogman. You will learn slinging techniques, including selection and inspection of lifting gear and equipment, directing crane operations in the movement of a load, risk management processes relating to lifting operations, communication and crane characteristics and types.

Learn the relevant skills that are applicable to manual handling and safe load handling in line with work and occupational health and safety regulations.

All electrical equipment is required to be tested and tagged, with testing intervals varying across industries. As an example, if you work in the Construction, Mining or Demolition industries, test and tag needs to be completed every three months. Learn first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to prepare you for emergency situations in the community and at a workplace through ATTS’s First Aid course.

You will learn how to:

• manage unconscious breathing and non-breathing adults
• manage unconscious non-breathing infants
• recognise the signs and symptoms of common injuries and illness and provide appropriate first aid treatment, and
• provide an accurate report of first aid incidents.

The course is a blended delivery of online and face to face learning and assessment activities.

A First Aid certificate will be valid in the workplace for three years. The CPR component is valid for 12 months.

Operation of a Forklift requires you to hold a High Risk Work (HRW) licence , a mandatory requirement in Australia. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to safely operate equipment to prepare you to obtain a forklift truck HRW licence.

This Gas Test Atmospheres training course is for individuals who may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace. This can include work environments that are hazardous, unpredictable, subject to time pressure, chaotic and expose responders to risk, on land or water, or workplace atmospheres which may include visible and invisible hazards and hazardous surfaces.

The course covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere using electronic test apparatus to find out if it is safe for the proposed work, interpret readings and take actions based on the interpretation.

This course can only be undertaken:

Under a formal contract of training – apprenticeship, or
As part of an upgrading from currently held Electrical mechanic licence  to have Fitter-Mechanic listed on a QLD licence – ESO Training Permit required, or
