Certificate IV in engineering

The Certificate IV in Engineering assists in providing the knowledge and skills required for a higher level engineering tradesperson, including welding processes, assemble and repair fabrications and assist in providing on-the-job training to trainees.

The Certificate IV in Engineering is a qualification completed through an apprenticeship covering the application of higher level skills for engineering.  Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), identify and follow job requirements, prepare and set up materials and equipment, and perform and inspect routine and advanced welding processes including manual metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc and flux core arc.  Form and shape material using fabrication techniques, assemble fabricated components, and repair, replace and modify fabrications.  Interpret technical drawings, perform engineering measurements and write reports.  Assist to provide on-the-job training, monitor progress and provide feedback to trainees.   Possible Employment Pathways:

Eligible apprentices and trainees that meet the Queensland state funding requirements will be charged a set fee per nominal hour. These fees are calculated at a regulated rate of $1.60 per nominal hour. Non-funded apprentices and trainees will be charged a fee for service cost. These will be confirmed prior to the commencement of training.
Information regarding costs will be outlined on the agreed training plan, which will be provided to the employer and apprentice or trainee at time of induction.

Non-concession: $600.00*
Concession: $260.00*
*This qualification has a point based system and co-contribution fee amounts provided above are based on an average of 20 units after completion of Engineering Trade, Certificate III. Co-contribution amounts will adjust accordingly dependant on the number of units of competency student is required to complete to achieve the full qualification.

Requirements for completion of this qualification

Units of Competency

To be awarded the MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering units of competency to a value of 132 points must be achieved.

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this qualification.
