This Skill Set provides the skills and knowledge required for the testing, tagging and reporting of portable/handheld low voltage (LV) electrical equipment using a portable appliance tester (PAT). It provides additional competencies to those already gained in the relevant field to which the electrical work is incidental or a primary and regular function of the work.

Follow work health and safety procedures while inspecting, checking, testing, tagging and documenting cord connected apparatus and cord assemblies.

Requirements for completion of this qualification

Queensland-based individuals wishing to undertake Test and Tag activities as a Business, should consult the Queensland Electrical Safety Office [1300 362 128] for more information as special licencing may apply.

Units of Competency

To be awarded this Skill Set, competency must be achieved in 2 units of competency:

  • Two (2) units
  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEERL0003 Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies

Pre-requisite

There are no entry requirements for this skill set, however students with a colour vision deficiency should consult their trainers as some units may not be suitable.

Access to a computer/laptop and internet, a video and audio recording device (e.g. smart phone or web cam) and current email address.
