The Diploma of Hospitality Management provides the training and skills required for employees in a hospitality management role or for those looking for a pathway into a departmental or small business manager role within the hospitality industry.

The Diploma of Hospitality Management reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. This qualification provides a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. Implement, participate and monitor work health and safety and use hygienic and safe food handling practices. Manage staff through the coordination of staff recruitment, selection and induction, develop staff rosters, and monitor and provide guidance and support of work performance. Prepare, monitor and manage budgets and purchase, transport, receive, store and maintain food, goods and stock. Provide responsible service of alcohol, serve food and beverage, provide quality customer service and resolve customer complaints. Possible Employment Pathways:

Requirements for completion of this qualification

Units of Competency 

To be awarded this qualification, competency must be achieved in 28 units of competency. 

  • Eleven (11) core units of competency 
  • Seventeen (17) elective units 

Pre-requisite 

This qualification requires the person to be in a supervisory role within the workplace or have significant experience in the designated occupation. 

Resources 

Access to a computer/laptop and internet, a video and audio recording device (e.g. smart phone or web cam) and current email address.
