The Qualified Business Person (QBP) short course assists in providing knowledge and skills to follow work health and safety regulations and codes of practices in the electrotechnology workplace. 

Identify legal and risk management requirements and develop and implement procedures, policies and plans to ensure compliance within an electrical contracting business.

Successful completion of this training program will allow QBP’s to apply / renew their QBP status under the requirements of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013.

This course operates on a rolling enrolment basis, meaning there are no fixed start or end dates. You can begin your studies at any time that suits you, and progress through the course at your own pace.

Under Australian Training standards RTO’s in Australian cannot collect more than $1500 in prepaid fees from individual students to protect the financial interests of students. To comply with this requirement, the following payment schedule will apply upon your enrolment.

Fee For Service Option 1 – 2-day classroom-based training Option 2 – Blended – Online theory (self-paced) via Learning Management System. Please note course must be completed within 6 months of enrolment.

Blended – Online theory (self-paced) via Learning Management System and 1 day practical training and assessment completed onsite at our campus once all online theory has been completed.

During the entire program you will have access to your trainer via phone or email during normal business hours, should you have any questions throughout completing the course.

Up to 6 months 

Requirements for completion of this qualification

Units of Competency

To be awarded this short course, competency must be achieved in 3 units of competency:

  • Three (3) units
  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEEEL0040 Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business
  • BSBESB402 Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures

WorkSafe Queensland has more information around the requirements to have this endorsement added to an Electrical Contractor Licence.

On successful completion, Statement of Attainment will be issued to enable an Electrical Contractor to nominate QBP on their Queensland Electrical Contractors Licence.

Pre-requisite

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this course.

Resources

Recommended | Access to AS/NZS 3000 (known as the Electrical Wiring Rules); AS/NZS 3018, AS/NZS 3012, AS/NZS 3017, AS/NZS 3019.

Access to a computer/laptop and internet, a video and audio recording device (e.g. smart phone or web cam) and current email address.

It is requested that students provide their own:

  • Calibrated multimeter
  • An insulation tester with 250v, and 500v minimum ranges.
  • Hand tools such as;
    • Screwdrivers – slotted and Philips
    • Pliers
    • Side cutters

These above tools can be provided for use at training if required.

Students must provide their own Australian Standards (Paper or digital formats acceptable) and PPE such as Safety Glasses, Safety Boots and Gloves.
