An apprenticeship in Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology provides learning in a broad range of tasks and on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.  This qualification will provide you with the knowledge to apply inspection, servicing, diagnostic and repair skills on the major components and systems found in light vehicles.   Components and systems covered by this qualification include brakes, steering, suspension, engines, transmissions, ignition, cooling, exhaust, and engine management systems. Blended – Online theory (self-paced) via Learning Management System and practical training and assessment predominantly onsite at your workplace or at our campus.

Delivery Location 

During the entire program you will have access to your trainer via phone or email during normal business hours, should you have any questions throughout completing the course. 

Duration 

48 months full-time 

Requirements for completion of this qualification

Units of Competency 

To be awarded this qualification, competency must be achieved in 36 units of competency: 

  • Twenty (20) core units of competency 
  • Sixteen (16) elective units 

Pre-requisite 

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this qualification. 

Resources 

Access to a computer/laptop and internet, a video and audio recording device (e.g. smart phone or web cam) and current email address.
