Temporary Skills Shortage Program

The Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Program is an assessment pathway for people applying for a Temporary Skills Shortage visa.

This program will help you enter the Australian workforce as a skilled worker in your relevant trade.

To be eligible you:

  • Must work in a nominated occupation and hold a passport from a nominated country or Special Administrative Region (SAR) as indicated on Trades Recognition Australia
  • Are required by the Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) to have a skills assessment for temporary migration

To avoid delays with processing your application, we recommend reading the full TSS Program Outline document AND referring to the Pre-assessment Checklist and Documentary Evidence Checklist before submission.

You can enter into this program one of two ways.

Pathway one is for people without relevant Australian VET qualifications.

Pathway two is for those with a qualification or a current, identified Australian occupational licence.

What is a Card Verification Number (CVN)?

This is a 3 or 4 digit code that provides extra security for online payments. For Visa, Mastercard and Diners, this is a 3 digit number usually printed on the back of the signature panel. For Amex, this is the 4 digit number on the front of the card above the embossed card number.
