These pathways are available across a wide range of industries and career stages — whether you’re just starting out, still at school, or already working.

Who Can Start an Apprenticeship or Traineeship?

To enrol, you must:

  • Be 15 years or older (age depends on the occupation)
  • Be employed full-time or part-time in a relevant industry
  • Have a workplace based in Queensland or reside in Queensland
  • Be one of the following:
    • An Australian citizen
    • A New Zealand citizen
    • An Australian permanent resident, including humanitarian entrants
    • A temporary resident with an eligible visa and work rights on the pathway to permanent residency
  • Apprenticeships and traineeships can be completed full-time, part-time, or while you’re still in school (school-based).

How to Get Started

  • Speak with your employer or potential employer
  • Connect with an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider
  • Check that your chosen qualification is offered by Australian Trade Training College
  • Nominate Australian Trade Training College as your preferred Registered Training Organisation (RTO)

Already employed? No problem — existing workers may be eligible to start an apprenticeship or traineeship too.
