This unit provides students with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage work health and safety (WHS) risks in the workplace. It focuses on identifying hazards, assessing risks, and assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of control measures in line with current WHS legislation and organisational procedures.

You will learn to:

  • Access and Interpret: Relevant WHS laws, policies, and workplace data.
  • Identify and Assess: Workplace hazards and associated risks.
  • Support Implementation: Select and apply appropriate risk controls using the hierarchy of control.
  • Communicate Effectively: Engage with stakeholders and duty holders.
  • Monitor and Evaluate: The effectiveness of risk control measures.

Entry requirements

As part of the enrolment process, you will need to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy indicator Assessment. This assessment is used for reviewing your suitability for this course.

Course Outcome

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Australian Trade Training College (RTO 31399)
