This crucial unit equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to ensure safe work practices across all construction sites, whether on-site or off-site. You’ll learn to identify and manage risks, follow safety protocols, and correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE), establishing a solid foundation in workplace health and safety (WHS).

You’ll also gain awareness of hazardous materials (including asbestos), emergency response procedures, and legal responsibilities in construction work. Whether you’re starting an apprenticeship, entering the workforce, or upskilling, this course prepares you to keep yourself and others safe on the job.

Entry requirements

As part of the enrolment process, you will need to undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and Digital Literacy indicator Assessment. This assessment is used for reviewing your suitability for this course.

    • Enclosed footwear (steel cap preferred)

Course Outcome

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Australian Trade Training College (RTO 31399)
