The Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business reflects the role of individuals providing self-employment through establishing or operating a business, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation. This qualification assists students to develop the higher skills and knowledge required to establish a business. Identify and comply with legal and risk management requirements, research and develop business plans, identify and plan for financial requirements, and implement and monitor financial strategies. Identify, develop and implement marketing strategies in line with business plans, and build and lead business relationships through effective communication, facilitating collaboration, supporting colleagues and assisting to manage conflict. To be awarded this qualification, competency must be achieved in 10 units of competency:

  • Four (4) core units of competency
  • Six (6) elective units

Pre-requisite

It is mandatory that students interested in studying under the Higher Level Skills (HLS) Funding Option, must be the owner, manager or the employee of a small business in Queensland.

Resources

Access to a computer/laptop and internet, a video and audio recording device (e.g. smart phone or web cam) and current email address.
